IOP - Meeting place Kivik
Project IOP - Meeting place Kivik
Meeting place Kivikis created byThe Kiviks Museum & Archive Foundation.Region Skåne's Culture Committee partially financed the project with a development grant in 2022. The purpose of the project is for Kiviks Museum to function as a creative development site for associations, cultural entrepreneurs, networks and companies in Österlen and in Scania. Byculture-driven rural developmentcan the Mötesplatsen benefit from Kiviks Museum's regional, national and international contact network of researchers, museums, archives, universities and organisations.
The meeting place must work for economically, ecologically, culturally and socially sustainable collaboration and growth models with other actors, and thereby become a showcase of a cultural destination important to both the municipality and the region, which has one million visitors annually. The meeting place is further strengthened by Kiviks Museum's other areas of activity, such as research, guided walks, exhibitions, conferences, the Children's Museum, youth projects, projects for the elderly and tourist information all year round.
The development support from Region Skåne enabled a part-time position at the museum during 2022 with the aim of starting collaboration models with other actors locally, municipally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The meeting place can, through Kiviks Museum's national and international contacts, e.g. contribute to research, tourism and hospitality industry, courses, conferences, cooperation between companies and cultural practitioners, cultural heritage development and networking as a creativity incubator, which contributes to the attractiveness of Skåne and Österlen for both residents and summer guests all year round.
The project turned out very well and the goals that were set were met or exceeded. More collaboration projects than planned were initiated and more stakeholders were connected to the Meeting Place and to the development work at Kiviks Museum. Initiatives were taken for new research collaborations and international projects, where applications have been written together with several collaborating parties.
Some general goals of Mötesplats Kivik are to:
- Increase local collaboration in Österlen
- Develop methods forculture-driven rural developmentin collaboration with other meeting places nationally and internationally
- Create a new meeting place at Kivik in new museum premises in collaboration with the Community Planning Board in Simrishamn municipality, which expressed its clear support for this development
