Storytelling circle in Kivik and surroundings
Storytelling circle in Kivik and surroundings
ProjectStorytelling circle in Kivik and surroundingsstarted in spring 2016 as a collaboration between Kiviks Museum and SPF Seniors Kivik. The aim was to collect images and stories from the history of the 20th century within the museum's catchment area: Ravlunda, Vitaby and Södra Mellby. The modern history of the villages would be documented in time; shops, schools, working life, entertainment venues, associations, activities and people.
At the end of 2016, the collaboration received support from Hela Sverige ska leva - Skåne, as it was an important rural project. After the final report, the project was granted continued support from the Swedish Antiquities Authority, so that both the documentation and the cataloging of collected material could continue for another year.

Throughout 2017 and 2018, the project was able to continue and lots of images, stories, newspaper clippings and other material were collected for the archive. Material that was already in the collections was also brought out and old photos and films were reviewed to document people and contexts in time.
The project attracted a lot of attention, and material also came to the museum from Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany, where both private individuals and archives abroad had noticed our documentation and submitted contributions that ended up in foreign collections.
